SAVE VOLUNTEER GROUP LOGO CREATION

Client:

SAVE Volunteer Group

Tools:

Adobe Illustrator

I was requested to help create concepts for the official logo of SAVE,  a newly formed environmental group consisting of students who work with various retailers to promote recycling.

PROCESS

The client wanted a green logo and gave me a brief description of the vision of the volunteer group. I identified three keywords including recycle, community and waste management.

For the color choice, I used GREENERY (PANTONE 15-0343) as the dominant color since it is indicated by PANTONE to be the Color of the Year for 2017.

For logo 1, I was informed that the volunteer group worked closely with office supply retailers to recycle commonly trashed office items. With this in mind, I used dots besides the text to represent the halftone process of printers.

Logo 2 was created based on the recycle keyword. A light tint figure 8 was placed behind the letter 'S' to represent the "behind the scenes" recycling that the volunteer group does that supplement their environmentally front.

The third logo was inspired by recent "half-and-half" trends in 2016 icon design indicated by logolounge.com. The leaf color is separated in half by the curve that separates from the leaf shape and form the stem outside.

Logo 4 is based on combining geometric shapes together. Specifically, a circle and a square was combined to form the main leaf and the 'S' from the text is white to create another leaf from the negative space. The leaves were intended to be the metaphor of the group's structured environmental goals complemented by their organic work process.
